From Flab to Fab…HNY 2025!
As usual, I had the most tense start to the year, wondering what new year resolutions do I make (which I haven’t made and broken many times already), and in between the worry about finding a good year message to write, even as I have the impossible task to read through 500 of them beautiful messages left to read from sweet family and friends like you 😇
So this year, am doing the unthinkable – merging my new year goals into a Happy New Year message also. Hope my plight and struggle to a brand new resolution tickles your funny bone!
So here we go:
- Reduce the Flab: The hardest thing to carry around in life is weight….not the weight of others’ expectations but that of your own body! ☺️ So my first resolution this year is to achieve 5% efficiency in body weight. That means, hang on, that either I’ll try to cut down my weight by 5kg, or tone up my body to handle this 5kg extra. 😆 Waise, was having nice big glass of lassi at Parsi Dairy Farm as I wrote this 🤦♂️
- De-Stress: I have to be off all medicines by end of this year. The tricky part in this is to get off the BP medicine 💊 😇. Hence the additional goal of reducing stressful conversations with the 4 most set of relevant people in my life – Parents, Wifey, Kids and Boss!! 😆
- Breathe Right: Meditation, Yoga, Religion and Philosophy – calm down the body and the mind. Especially during 9 to 3.30 on all trading days! 😎
- Prioritise: In all of 2024, I had a thousand recommendations to buy (all just at the right time), and none that told me when the time came to sell. 🤦♂️ The only thing that’s increased last year is the size of my to-do lost! I swear I meant to-do list!! Damn this auto correct!! So, this year, I will cut down and prioritise my conversations, focus on fewer things, and do them well (the sweet innocent part of me actually believes I’ll do this…🤗). Better a few well researched ideas on the portfolio than a hundred ideas in the to-do list
- Learn, learn, learn! Years of cutting the wood without sharpening the axe has led to a bluntness, that for the first time I’m bluntly admitting! 😉 So this year the most aggressive goals in this department – 1 book every week / 100 pages a day dedicated non work based reading, 1 new language in the year and 1 new skill developed in the year. Come 2026, we will review this to see whether I’ve passed on this goal. In the interest of sanity though, passing marks are going to be low – 1 book a month is the first barrier I need to cross!! 😊
- Write, right! Write! I feel happiest when I’m playing with words. And it’s been a long time I haven’t done that. So this year, a stretch of a goal – 1 new poem or story or thought piece every week or 52 for the year! If I manage to do this, I’ll manage to tick off all the other goals in the list as well mostly…pls pray for me ☺️
- Teach, but don’t preach! Self explanatory! I will continue to mentor kids and youngsters into a career in investing. Even as I continue on the learning path myself
- Portfolio Goals: Shh, सब कुछ पहले दिन ही बता दूँ क्या ☺️
- Brevity: My 9th and most important goal was to start getting more concise, precise and wise with my messages! Ah well, pls excuse for today on this goal! 😎
The key to a happy life is to ignore the noise and heed the wise, to do more with less. And that’s how I’ve started the year by fitting in a 10 point new year resolution into just 9 points…a cool benefit of 10% already ☺️☺️
The journey from fab to flab begins with a single step, I’ve taken my first one today….have you??
Oops…I meant from Flab to Fab! 🤗
Happy New 2025!!!
