Innocence

A simple 9 letter word. But a powerful concept to understand our world. It teaches us so much about life….Thanks to my friend Shailendra for suggesting that I write on this topic. It is a bit abstract, but was fun writing it.

Time: The clock broke, no gadget on hand, alone with my favourite book, no clues about time. Had a beautiful day, not going by a clock turned out perfectly fine!

Age: “I tried hard to teach my child how to become an adult, even as I all I wanted was to myself become a child again”. How I wish the only problem in life was how to convince mom dad about getting the next gift, chocolate or ice cream!

Knowledge: The opposition in our country wanted Government to tell the exact modus operandi of how the surgical strikes were done. 🙂
Fools boast how much they know, the wise carefully consider how much farther they have to go! True wisdom is in knowing that we know nothing, and in knowing that it is fine to know nothing, so long as we are prepared to learn and stay humble, grounded and retain our passion and zeal. There’s so much more for us to take than we can give, why not then retain our selfish nature for once, and take everything within us calmly. Learn from every person, every situation….everyone has something to teach us.

Happiness: As I saw the stranger beam a smile, I wondered how easy and charming a life he led. How happy he looked. How not like me! As I smiled back at him, little did I know that he was thinking the same!

Trust: Silently she took the marriage vows, trusting him to protect her from the big bad world. While her parents contemplated if they had paid enough (dowry) for her to be protected from him.

Intent: Touched by the wind, the sun, and the rain, the tiny flower beamed joy through it all. But when I went to touch it, it closed its ranks, threatened by a fall!

Nature: Seeking a breath of fresh air, that’s all I need. Difficult to find it though, among this beautiful world constructed by human greed.

Relationships: I look around at my family, friends, people in my network and wonder why we came together? Was it me that needed them, or they that needed me? Was there a need for a “need” in the first place? When was the last time we did not look at a relationship as a transaction enabler or fulfilling some need?

Life: Invincible, many a men thought they were! Fought many a battles in their heyday. All lie to dust today! What’s the need for me to worry about the trifles of life either? I’ll be anyways joining them one day! “The meaningless nature of life considering we are all waiting for the end.”

Innocence is all about raw emotions, untouched by the excesses of desire, greed, longing, need. About nature – pure and uncorrupted. About each day – lived with harmony and peace and inner happiness, without worrying about agendas, schedules, without worrying about lost time. About relationships that are rooted in trust and not transaction oriented. About a life that is enjoyed and lived like it is meant to be – we will get it but once, spending it on the things that matter!
